[solved] rtl8192se 64bit

Hi!

I'm running ArchLinux x64, I've got the rtl8192se wireless card and i haven't installed any driver.

If I try to connect to a WLAN without encryption i can connect to it without any problems, but if it has a WPA2 encryption i cannot authenticate, network manager doesn't show me the auth dialog.

Anybody with the same problem?

I've googled and i've found ubuntu users with the same problem.

P.D. Additional info: udev fails at boot.

Thanks and sorry for my english!

Plz, give us some more info! Have you installed the packages "wireles_tools" and "wpa_supplicant"? If you already have installed them, what says "iwconfig"? And are you using a Laptop? If yes - does it have a key to switch wireless on and off?

Arch_x64 on Thinkpad Edge E520 (Intel Core i5, 4 GB RAM, 128 GB Crucial M4 SSD) + ITX-Desktop (Asrock H77M-ITX, Intel Core i3-2120T, 8GB RAM, 64 GB Samsung 830 SSD)

Re: [solved] rtl8192se 64bit

Here you have what iwconfig says

wlan0 IEEE 802.11bgn ESSID:off/any
          Mode:Managed Access Point: Not-Associated Tx-Power=off
          Retry long limit:7 RTS thr=2347 B Fragment thr:off
          Power Management:on

When I try to connect to a WLAN appears a dialog that says that "System policy prevents modification of network settings for all users" and a textbox to input the root password.

Then if the WLAN has no authentication i get connected, if WLAN has wpa2 auth, it doesn't show me any dialog to input the WLAN password.

I've got wireless_tools and wpa_supplicant installed.

Thanks!

Re: [solved] rtl8192se 64bit

Just use something other than network-manager. It has become quite a mess recently. Or search the forums, there's for sure discussion about it.
