[SOLVED] Arch can only see part of samba shared files

I have a samba server running on Gentoo. It's sharing out a couple of external hard drives over my network. On my Arch workstation, however, I can only see about half of the files in the shares. My wife's Mac running OS X Lion can see everything just fine, and my Windows 7 can see everything just fine. And when you sit down at the console on the gentoo box, everything is there as it's supposed to be. So all the files are there as they should be. And every other computer on my network can see them, but my Arch box can only see about half the files that are there in the samba share.

Any ideas what might be going on?

EDIT: I discovered that if I use smbclient and browse the shares on the server with that, I can see everything properly. But if I just ls the directory, i don't see everything.

EDIT 2: Sorry, I wish this were an actual solution, but my gentoo box died this afternoon. So there goes that. Thanks anyway.
