irc server security

I plan on making a low traffic (100 users max) irc server, and I want to use ngircd, but what about security? will it be ok out of the box? or will this just be a huge gateway to illicit access to my pc?

well... if nobody has replied, maybe you should look elsewhere, maybe the mailing list of forums for the irc program, if it has them.

make sure you have a decent firewall, only allowing connections on the ports you want them, and your /etc/host.allow and deny are correctly setup.

Why do you need to setup an IRC server though? There's countless IRC servers out there where you can start a new channel on.
