A recent post on the SpaceFM topic throws up worrying developments concerning udisks, especially if you don't want to use Gnome. udisks2 is a very different and incompatible beast from udisks, and will not be intended for incorporation into scripting. At least co-existence is a small plus for a while. But of course, udisks development will progressively die and bugs are already not being fixed, I believe.
Some new sustainable solutions are really needed, especially for those of us who don't want to get snarled up by the big DEs (such as Gnome in this case).
