[SOLVED]firestarter rc.conf

Do I need iptables as a daemon on rc.conf?
I put firestarter in rc.conf, but on boot says "fail"
Doesn't firestarter need iptables to work? If I put rules on firestarter, does they take effect, or I need to have iptables as a daemon?

It seems you don't need to actually add/start iptables (did some quick reading up on firestarter). Check your /var/log/everything.log for possible clues on why it isn't starting.

PS: firestarter doesn't seem to be actively developed anymore. You might want to consider an alternative (ufw seems to be popular). Or just use plain and simple iptables

I think I will stick with firestarter, seems to be working, looks like it is blocking non authorized conections or conections at closed ports.
It's a chame that they dropped firestarter. It's a wonderfull software and very easy to use.
As for ufw or gufw it seems the new easy way to configure iptables, it's flexible and really easy. But when I was on ubuntu gufw kinda sucks, because live connections monitoring what not that good.
One of the things that I love about firestarter is monitoring live connections.
After all that for the help.
