Re: network daemon hangs

Check your logs for clues.

Re: network daemon hangs

i cleared the logs thinking i would let them start fresh, so far I can't find anything network related showing up

I had to boot from a cd and chroot it to disable everything to get it to boot, so right now the only daemon loading is syslog

i tried booting from the cd to chroot again and run updates

if i try to start the network daemon it just hangs and says busy, nothing really happens

i've now tried downgrading the kernel, and dhcpcd and so far nothing

I can set an ip manually using ifconfig but then if i try to add a route, i still have issues, not sure whats happening, but im not happy at the moment

i have a feeling there might be something corrupted somewhere

Re: network daemon hangs

I don't know if this is related or not, but in the past few days I noticed I had to restart the network daemon every time my computer woke from sleep.  About that time, dhcpcd went from  5.5.4-1  to  5.5.5-1.  I downgraded back to  5.5.4-1 and the problem went away (had to reboot of course).  You might try that downgrade temporarily and see if it helps.

Re: network daemon hangs

Start with the basics. Boot your system, bring up the interface and run "dhcpcd <interface>" manually and see what happens (direct output + logging).

Burninate!

Re: network daemon hangs

if i run manually, nothing happens, dhcpcd just sits there.

i read about issues with the newer dhcpcd as well, so I had tried downgrading it to 5.5.4 as previously mentioend here and had the same results. i've just reloaded the system and its working.....I have a feeling it was something badly corrupted somewhere causing the problem.

it's working now, but I have to reconfigure my system. kde is giving me grief but ill be searching the error in the log and posting a new thread if i need to
