I have a mail server and I'm getting lots and lots of spam. I'd like to start using TMDA so I can whitelist people who send mail. A whitelist in this context would mean that anyone who sends me a mail would get an immediate reply back asking for confirmation that they are a human being and not a spam bot. In this way I think I can reduce the spam in my inboxes to zero.
My problem is that I don't quite understand how this thing works. It apparently interfaces with Sendmail/Postfix or other MTAs. My understanding was that an MTA just *sent* the mail and didn't worry about receiving it. Is this wrong?
My goal is to get TMDA working with a full featured mail server like Communigate that supports multiple domains, webmail, etc. Has anyone set up anything like this before?
