Hello, i just installed arch again on a netbook and i cant use my wireless connection.
I know my device works(or at least i think, i seems to work right away after install), because it can scan for networks, and finds them. and tries to connect to them.
This happens with wicd. netcfg, and with the normal tools for wireless(iwconfig, etc.)
When i use the normal tools it fails when i dhcpcd wlan0, i have tried this https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=138615 but it doesnt work.
What should i do? Thanks

What should i do?
Tell us which chipset your interface uses.
Tell us whether your router uses encryption.
If it does, is it WEP, WPA or WPA2?
Tell us the output of iwlist scan when run as root.
Tell us the output of iwconfig
Tell us the output of rfkill list

Sorry for my previous post, was in a hurry and made it uninformative.

What exactly happens when you try to connect to your preferred wireless network? Does it associate but not get an ip or it doesn't associate at at all or..?
Try connecting "manually" and see which step it fails on.

it fails after i dhcpcd wlan0. Inthe waiting for a carrier part.
I have done "wconfig wlan0 channel auto" like its said on the wiki, but still doesnt work
Thanks and greetings.

I have the same card, and the connection fails at the same step.
# dhcpcd wlan0
dhcpcd[848]: version 5.5.6 starting
dhcpcd[848]: wlan0: waiting for carrier
dhcpcd[848]: timed out

At that point, what is the output of iwconfig ??
Running dhcpcd is pointless if you are not associated with an access point

...OP, you should try running wpa_supplicant without the -B option too. It might give you a relevant information related to the problem.
WPA: 4-Way Handshake failed - pre-shared key may be incorrect
I got supplied the wrong key. Never mind my post earlier.

Note: In some setups it may still display "Access Point: Not-Associated", continue on to the next step.
wpa__supplicant gives me nothing, it just get stuck there. For more than an hour
Thanks and greetings.

Oh, you are using WEP. Wpa_supplicant won't help you then. Do you have access to the router? You could check that can you connect to it if it doesn't have encryption or if the encryption is WPA2.

Is your key a long hexadecimal number, or is it a passphrase? (Hint: The way you presented it, I would expect a hex number.)

Yep, it an hexadecimal number.
EDIT.
Actually, i just looked at the configuration page of my router and it this computer has been connected using ethernet cable and wireless connection. So this means it actually connects to my router.

I am running out of easy ideas.
Look at the output of iwlist keys and ensure that the key listed is the key on the router.
Look at the output of iwlist freq and ensure that it supports 2.437 GHz.
Try changing your iwconfig command to force channel 6 (2.437 GHz).
I am gone for a few hours, I'll check back later.

Thanks.
EDIT: ...
Damn, i feel stupid.
Somehow this computer got in the blacklist of the mac filtering on my router.
Its still weird, it was the only one device there and i have never added anything there. Yesterday a new device also connected for the first time and it had no trouble.... so idk why it was there.
Lots of thanks to everyone who helped me
Im sorry for not checking that earlier...
