Hi there,
since a couple of weeks my gnome shell crashes every time I try to configure my displays. I have got a laptop and a 21.5" monitor (acer). When i click on "Mirror diplays" everything works fine (on 1024x786 px) and when I uncheck the box to configure my external monitor to be right of my laptop monitor it runs fine to, but the resolution is still wrong. Every further configuration fails: changing the resolution, set my external monitor left of my laptop etc. When I try, the entire system crashes: the mouse is displayed between both monitors (exactly in the middle) and cannot be moved. When I try to get in tty (Ctrl + Alt + F1, F2 ...) nothing happens. Do you know where I can log files to find out what exactly the problem is?
I have got the second problem that I use an i5 second generation with an internel graphics card and a second ATI graphics card. I dont even know which card is used. Maybe I can use the other card and my problem is solved but I dont know how to do.
Thanks for reading and I hope you can help me...

I am having a similar problem. The logs needed are /home/your_username/.xsession-errors and /home/your_username/.xsession-errors.old, /var/log/Xorg.0.log.old and /var/log/Xorg.0.log. Please attach the logs in a comment here: https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/29285. If you don't have an account they are easy to make and these logs could be crucial to fixing our problem. Please also vote for the task.

Thank you for the log files. But I dont know if the bug you sent me the right one is. It did neither happen when I unplug a cable nor I am using a hdmi cable... I simply use VGA. Do you really think thats the right one?

Yeah because you are getting the same problem unplugging vga as I am hdmi. I am pretty sure it is related.

No, I am getting the problem when in plug in the cable...

When I plug in the cable at the login screen on my 1080p tvs I sometimes get the problem you described above. Even if they are not related it would not hurt to tell attach the logs and maybe a developer here can say whether they are related or not otherwise.
