Spent some time with KDE 4.8. I really like it.

You can set oxygen-gtk theme for gtk apps to look on par with the kde ones.
Also give a try to kde applications like konversation and k3b.
Here is my desktop, not much changed since last month.

Pretty nice. Which dock are you using? And how did you get this global menu on top bar? Since GNOME2 I don't see a thing like this.
