[SOLVED] IPV6 address disappears suddenly

Hi all!

I've a problem with my ipv6 connexion.

Before the module was added in the kernel itself, all was good. I loaded ipv6 module, had an ipv6 address and could visit ipv6 websites.

But now, I don't understand why, my computer have no longer an ipv6 address and I can't solve this problem.

My ISP configuration is the same as before and my computer too.

How can I solve it and get my ipv6 address back?
Do you have an idea?

Maybe your provider changed their setup a bit?

A had a similar issue, suddenly IPv6 was gone. Looked at the router's firewall and dhcp6c logs, and realized I now had to allow icmpv6 traffic from the ISP's dialin gateway to my wan interface.

Re: [SOLVED] IPV6 address disappears suddenly

It was icmpv6 indeed!

The rules in my ip6tables don't allow icmpv6...

When I deactivate the firewall, my ipv6 is back!

I'm going to correct this!

Thanks a lot!

Re: [SOLVED] IPV6 address disappears suddenly

ICMPv6 is an essential part of IPv6, as it is used for neighbour discovery, route discovery, multicasting, etc.
Don't block it as with IPv4.
