Slow internet on device A, fast on device B, but fast transfer A-B.

Hi there everyone,

First off, here is the practical problem I have : (every connection is through wi-fi, downloads with wget of a file on ftp.gnu.org.)
My iPod downloads from the Internets at 300 kb/s.  My laptop downloads from the Internets at 60 kb/s.  SCPing a file located on the iPod from the laptop rolls at 250 kb/s.  (Additionally, transfer from wired Internets is as full 5Mbps.)

I hope you now have a feel of why I'm frustrated: my slow wifi is specific to the Internets; I can get good speed on my local wifi network.

CONFIG:
Hardware:
Dell Inspiron 1525
lspci of the wifi card (BCM4312) : http://pastebin.com/raw.php?i=5UgRWfhx
Driver used: b43 (I tried wl and ndiswrapper with no results)

Software:
Linux kleene 3.3.3-1-ARCH #1 SMP PREEMPT Mon Apr 23 09:33:32 UTC 2012 i686 Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T5550 @ 1.83GHz GenuineIntel GNU/Linux
testing/netcfg 2.8.1-1
aur/b43-firmware 5.100.138-1
core/wpa_supplicant 0.7.3-5 (base)
iw/ifconfig wlan0: http://pastebin.com/raw.php?i=GbPmedUz
Same resolv.conf as the iPod.
ipv6 disabled at boot

Wifi:
Router: TP-LINK Wireless Router WR641G/642G
Wireless Radio:    Enabled
Channel:    6
Mode:    54Mbps (802.11g)
No encryption

Any help, really, any, would be greatly appreciated. :-)  I've wasted many hours on that!
Don't hesitate to ask any information you might need!

Happy hacking.

Welcome to the forums.

SCPing a file located on the iPod from the laptop rolls at 250 kb/s.

This is transferring over your local network? If so, that's still horribly slow.

Just a small guess/hunch; but try disabling power management for your wlan0 interface and see if it makes a difference.

Thanks for your answer Gcool!  I do agree tha 250kb/s over local network is slow, but that would still be a blessing if I could get that kind of rates from the Internets.
As for power management, AFAICT (http://pastebin.com/raw.php?i=GbPmedUz) it is already disabled.

Seriously, though, I'd pay 10 million theoretical dollars for a solution.
