My display has changed to 1024 x 768, and my monitor is not listed in gnome display settings. Was working fine up until only minutes ago. Display went to sleep while I was away and when I woke it the settings were changed.
What can I do?
Thank you. Brian
Edit:
After looking around I think my xorg.conf file changed.
When I re-run 'Xorg -configure' it returns an error stating that the number of screens detected does not match...
The current log file Xorg.0.log [1], an old log file Xorg.12.0.log [2], and the log from the configure command above Xorg.configure.log [3] can be viewed here.
The following are snippets of resolution section from [1] and [2].

Have you tried using the nvidia drivers instead of nouveau?
Also, can you post the output of xrandr, please?
You could try:
xrandr -s 1280x1024And see if that does anything.

...With these, I'm not sure running "xrandr -s 1280x1024" will work.
I think you need to use something like:
Section "Monitor0"
Identifier "VGA-1"
Modeline "1280x1024_75.00" 138.75 1280 1368 1504 1728 1024 1027 1034 1072 -hsync +vsync
Option "PreferredMode" "1280x1024_75.00"
EndSectionUse the "official" modeline calculator to get the Modeline (refresh rates from the manufacturer website, I hope), restart X, and there you have it. It worked for someone once: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=140496

I have made a personal commitment not to reply in topics that start with a lowercase letter. Proper grammar and punctuation is a sign of respect, and if you do not show any, you will NOT receive any help (at least not from me).

@DSpider - I will try what you have suggested.
Edit: This worked. Thanks alot
@Ranmaru - I have been running this setup for some time, but in the past I did try nvidea drivers. I was not happy with the results.
$ xrandr -s 1280x1024
Size 1280x1024 not found in available modesI am sure that before this update my monitor was listed in xorg.conf and now it is listed as unknown, so it seems to make sense that I have to change some thing there. I'm sure the info for my monitor is available somewhere.
Thank you,
Regards,
Brian
