Project ARM :: Arch Rollback Machine

I am using Arch in a corporate environment to support a datacenter filled with Arch servers and vms. So I want a local rollback machine so that I can have certain environments locked into certain days' repos. So I thought that making a local rollback machine would not only alleviate our load on public mirrors, but also give us the flexibility we need to keep using Arch in a datacenter.

Anyone have a copy of the tried and true scripts so I don't have to rewrite them?

Ahh.. sounds like a real scenario you would need a local setup for- Arch is not typically centered on corporate use, so I never guessed. I would suggest reading back a few pages and contacting the guy who is currently maintaining the ARM- hes bound to have the scripts you need

Thanks! Yes we have been using Arch for a medium sized cloud for a while now with Salt (http://saltstack.org) and Arch has been a dream to work with, but we need something smoother for repo updates, enter the ARM!

ARM is just a mirror that doesn't remove old packages, similar to keeping all your packages in your cache, never running 'pacman -Sc' or 'pacman -Scc'.

Sweet setup- I imagine Arch might work well if the apps you need are built on a relatively stable base. I think Kumyco is the one youd want to email.

Also, and you may already know this, but have you heard of Xyne's Pacserve? Im not exactly sure the setup you have there (LAN being controlled via Salt, or are you ssh'd in for maintenance?), but Pacserve allows you to save bandwidth by checking one server for packages (even a local one)- good for 50 Arch boxes on a LAN that need to update- instead of each having to pull from a mirror, Pacserve allows you to only download that once. You may already have your own solution in place, but I thought id mention it. Link is here:

I just wanted to post here to say thank you for ARM. I just ran into an issue with openjpeg causing evince to crash. I installed downgrade from AUR and it walked me through the steps of fetching a previous version from ARM.

This is a really nice project. Thank you again.

afais "downgrade" also searches only in the search site repos.

Edit:

 ./downgrade -c -d . wine

This tool desperately needs an archwiki page to detail the usage, the original post of this thread is unlikely to be updated judging the last posting date of the user.

Does anyone know who is actively maintaining the ARM? I have tried emailing kumyco (via the forum email link) but so far I have had no reply. Is there another address or another maintainer?

What makes you think they did? I see there has been some rearrangement in http://arm.konnichi.com/ but http://arm.konnichi.com/search/ still shows very old packages and you can download these packages (they're not just dead links).

Due to a dispute with the hosting provider, all files will be deleted as requested. Investigations are ongoing, but it appears that some over-zealous retard removed the 2012 directory. Evidently they didn't know what they were doing as doing so doesn't actually remove the files which are stored at http://arm.konnichi.com/pool/ .

All IP and Bot blocks will be removed shortly. I can't stop you from crawling the website, but I don't think there is anything else I can do.
