Computer #1: Dell Inspiron 1525 laptop with PRO/Wireless 3945ABG [Golan] wifi, using the driver: iwl3945
Using 'wifi-menu' tool from the latest upgrade to netcfg (2.8.2-1):
If I'm already connected to a network, wifi-menu scans and shows networks correctly.
But if I'm not connected, wifi-menu finds no networks.
wifi-select DOES scan and find the networks correctly.
Wicd works correctly (but then seems to get stuck with 'bad password' failure).
NetworkManager appears to work perfectly.
(Note: Wifi-select uses iwlist rather than wpa supplicant commands to scan for networks.)
Computer #2: Asus Eee PC 701SD netbook with Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL8187SE wifi, using driver: r8187se
wifi-menu apparently scans, but finds no networks.
wifi-select scans and finds networks correctly, but after choosing any network, it reports: "Wireless network <NETWORK> not present."
Wicd works correctly (but then seems to get stuck with 'bad password' failure).
NetworkManager appears to work perfectly.
Anyone else finding problems like these?![]()
