Why is it that all Linux games have to explicitly code in support for Alt+Tab task switching? (Even when they do, it stops working when the game locks up.)

On the one hand a problem of X, on the other hand a problem of SDL. I can't describe it, but maybe you find articles about it in google.

Afaik, there is no fullscreen mode in X, at least not a real one.

I can only suggest Windows version and wine. It works without problems on OSS Radeon drivers so nVidia blob should be completely without issue.

I'm not sure what's the situation with proprietary nVidia drivers but you need to have 32 bit versions of OpenGL libraries.

Have you try my PKGBUILD : http://mirandir.pagesperso-orange.fr/fi … src.tar.gz (delete your $HOME/.limbo folder before) ?

osspd is useless here, wine works great with pulseaudio.

lib32-nvidia-utils is mandatory if you use the nvidia blob.

Re: The Humble Indie Bundle V

On my arch 64 system, I had to install lib32-ncurses for SwordsAndSworcery to work.

I can't get limbo to work with the nvidia blob driver -- windows or linux version.

Linux version gives the "wine: Unhandled page fault on read access to 0x00000000 at address 0x4f2b75 (thread 0020), starting debugger..." error.

Windows version in wine gave the error "Shader model 3.0 or greater required".  I have a GT 520 with shader model 5.0... Not sure what the deal is with that..

Re: The Humble Indie Bundle V

Well, after playing for a bit the current bugs in Psychonauts I have found are:

  • Random crash to desktop

  • Sound doesn't play in cinematics after the first one in a new game

  • The projector displays nothing

Where do I file bug reports?

Also it's at $3M

All those are already reported on icculus bugtracker (link in ChemBro post). Basically, you can only add your hardware/software setup and "me too".

Re: The Humble Indie Bundle V

Seeing that bug tracker makes me sad: Whenever a company starts a linux forum thread for bug reports I think, that they should give us a bug tracker, we linux users are able to file bugs... Then Icculus does just that and it instantly gets filled with duplicates and poorly described bugs.

I am experiencing the same problem, no matter if I use the windows or the supposed to be linux version. I have a GT 420m (optimus technology) and it also support shader model 5.0.

The funny thing is that I can run limbo with the integrated intel video card without that problem with the window and linux version.  It runs a bit slow so I would like to use the nvidia card.

I don't know if you already tried but in the wine page some peopple suggest to change d3dx9_43 in winecfg to native as a workaround, but it didn't work for me.

Re: The Humble Indie Bundle V

Seems like a problem with card detection, try fake your card to wine (see useful registry keys). Disabling GLSL in registry might fix it too.

Re: The Humble Indie Bundle V

Hi,

did anyone with Intel GM965/GL960 had enough luck to run the game? No matter which PKGBUILD I use I keep getting the abovementioned error traceback (tried removing ~/.limbo everytime). Perhaps my poor Intel is just to weak for the task?

All registered users have near unrestricted access to bugzilla, if it really bugs you, you can just go and close duplicates or resolved issues...

Re: The Humble Indie Bundle V

I can't get SwordAndSworcery to work at all. I've installed the PKGBUILD and 64-bit deb (separately, of course) and even tried it directly from the tar.gz, but no matter what I get the same problem; the game opens up to a black screen, and I can still see my mouse. After about two or three seconds the entire thing closes without any errors or anything. Am I missing some 32-bit libraries or something? I have multilib enabled, but I'm not sure what I'm missing (considering there are no errors)

Did you install libtxc_dxtn and tried setting force_s3tc_enable=true?

Tried both, neither worked. SnS still opens a black screen then closes without any error.

Video card?
What driver, OSS or proprietary?
I assume you're running a 64bit system, is that correct?

One more thing, I just tried running it and it works without problems on OSS Radeon drivers, but actually it's a 32 bit game, so you'll need 32 bit libraries for it to work.

I had the same problem. It went away after installing a number of lib32 graphics packages (glew, intel-dri) my system didn't have yet. Also make sure that all your multilib packages are up-to-date. For whatever reason, multilib was disabled in my pacman.conf, although I had 32-bit packages installed in the past (maybe some incorrectly merged pacman.conf update). Therefore, the according packages were totally outdated.

Intel (I can't find the model in lspci)
Nvidia GeForce 310M (through bumblebee/optimus)

Tried using nouveau, nvidia and intel.

Any idea what other packages you had to install? Or is there a trick to running the game with the 32-bit drivers? I installed glew and I'm still getting the silent shutdown issue.

Edit: Nevermind, issue solved.

Re: The Humble Indie Bundle V

Anyone managed to get psychonauts running without constant random crashes (mostly on changing scenes) and freezes? Tried the test fix but it's still pretty bad... sort of got used to constant saving and reloading, but I don't manage to defeat the "brain tank" due to his overpowered "game-freezing attack" and the fact that the boss fight restarts every time you load the game.

no, there is still a memory corruption bug somewhere in the game that icculus has to fix.
