Someone post terminal control characters in AUR

like

[0;0H[4m[5m[97;107m[8m(0[2J

This causes the terminal displays "error".

and this Package

Re: Someone post terminal control characters in AUR

A user just posted a sequence of ASCII escape characters in the comments of an AUR package that I own without any explanation. I'm not about to enter it into my terminal since I'm not 100% sure what it does or if it has any malicious side-effects. Perhaps it was just a mistake on the user's end.

The sequence is

[0;0H[4m[5m[97;107m[8m(0[2J

[0;0H = move to first row, first column
[4m = set underline
[5m = set blink
[97;107m = set foreground and background to a high-intensity color
[8m = conceal
(0 = ?? Not an escape sequence, so I think they're just printed, but then what purpose does it serve?
[2J = clear the entire screen

So, I'm just curious what this does, if anything. Mainly it's that "(0" that I'm not sure about. If it's really nothing, then can a moderator please remove the comment?

Re: Someone post terminal control characters in AUR

I also got a bunch on my packages and things I'm notified for.

On my package with no votes it didn't happen though, so I had a look and it seems it only happens on packages with votes (I only had a quick look though so don't hold me to that!)

/Edit: Just had another look round and it seems all that spam has already been cleaned up, I assume the account and all posts have been wiped, good work if that's the case! smile

Yup, "(0" starts line drawing mode, "(B" goes back to "normal" mode.

Re: Someone post terminal control characters in AUR

Weird. So it's probably just some joke. I'm on my work computer, though, so I wasn't about to risk trying it...

amusing you would post here, since you're the idiot who spammed the AUR

Re: Someone post terminal control characters in AUR

And the same person who DoS'd archlinux.org, and the same person who posted XSS exploits on the AUR a while back...

Not very smart to poke your head out here.
