List of most used programs

I was wondering if there is a way to get a list of the most frequently used programs that I have used from my obmenu. My thought is to get a list and put the top 5 into the obmenu so that I would have my most common programs up front instead of going though the menu.

But it only gives top 10 commands used via the CLI. You can also check your Xorg log and see what programs you have used most. You might have to write a script to look for certain patterns in the log and appropriately extract the app name.

I put Terminal(urxvt), Web Browser (firefox), File Manager (spacefm) in the menu at the top for my wife. She mainly uses the web browser. I also set some keybindings for her using xbindkeys for the listed and other apps.

See what you use most often and move it up in the menu.xml file.

I was going to try to write a script that would sort through it so I would have a rotating menu of the past week's most used or something like that. I am still trying to figure everything out. thanks for the help.

Looked into xorg logs and got nothing.
How about logging the output of obmenu? Is there a way to that?
