Hello,
I wanted to be sure on how to do this,
currently I'm using acpi_call-git for turning off my ati card on boot:
# cat /etc/rc.local
#!/bin/bash
#
# /etc/rc.local: Local multi-user startup script.
#
/sbin/modprobe acpi_call
echo '\_SB.PCI0.PEG0.PEGP._OFF' > /proc/acpi/callOf course both drivers are installed
On boot line I have kernel /vmlinuz-linux root=/dev/sda5 ro i915.modeset=1 apparmor=1 security=apparmor
I want to change because trying to install a game with wine it shows me some error that says basically that
fixme:d3d:wined3d_guess_card No card selector available for GL vendor 0x4 and card vendor 0000 (using GL_RENDERER "Gallium 0.4 on llvmpipe

So, how can I disable Intel and Enable ATI without having troubles?
thanks,

Huummmmm,
it seems like nothing works to load radeon instead of i915
I did the following,
commented
#echo '\_SB.PCI0.PEG0.PEGP._OFF' > /proc/acpi/callAdded radeon on Modules
MODULES=(brcmsmac radeon- removed from blacklist
- blacklisted i915 on modprobe.conf
- removed i915 from boot line (early KMS loading)
This is what lsmod says:
i915 438164 2
video 11307 1 i915
button 4502 1 i915
i2c_algo_bit 5391 2 i915,radeon
intel_agp 10936 1 i915
intel_gtt 14047 3 i915,intel_agp
drm_kms_helper 33051 2 i915,radeon
drm 208958 5 ttm,i915,drm_kms_helper,radeon
i2c_core 20369 8 drm,i915,jc42,i2c_i801,drm_kms_helper,i2c_algo_bit,radeon,videodevAny help on this??
What should I do?

Have you checked your BIOS to see if there's a setting for this?

You can't wait 6 hours before power posting?
There's no such thing as a stupid question, but there sure are a lot of inquisitive idiots !

Did you install the xorg-video-ati for your ati card?
I may have to CONSOLE you about your usage of ridiculously easy graphical interfaces...

He said that both drivers were installed, and raedon shows up in his lsmod output.

It does what he is describing, it has one operation going down one screen, and some of the other operations that stick on the other screen. Even after changing to gdm, the offset monitors, still have text stuck on them. But with one monitor on intel and one monitor on ati, should be able to get it to work with an extended desktop well within the 4096x4096 limits. Beyond that, if it goes over that limit, it starts clipping, and the virtual desktop has to be resized. If I could get the virtual desktop set to change to something closer to a longer width, and no more than 1080 lines, I could probably get a multi-monitor working.

But xorg is for X, not console.
Intel-dri is probably already installed, is ati-dri installed?

ati-dri 8.0.3-3 (yes it's installed)
my problem is disabling completely intel and enabling ati ,
I'm on dual boot however and on windows I can switch back and forth from ati to intel without changing any setting in bios

I think there's vgaswitcheroo or something like this. ATI used to have twinview or catalyst or something.

vga_switcheroo?
not sure if that works, thought I have debugfs mounted, I don't see any vga_switcheroo under the kernel debug directory.
I think I will get read of the game and wait 2 more years for some working thing..

You may have to re-make your kernel with the vga_switcheroo support in order for it to work. That maybe why you don't have it in the debug directory.

Here's one you can be a ginny pig and try from the AUR: hybrid-video-ati-intel.
Try it and see if it does anything for you, haven't tried it myself, but it might be worth checking out.
