[SOLVED] PPTP VPN - The vpn service was not installed.

Hello,

I want to establish a vpn connection, however I cannot succeed.
I am using Gnome3, networkmanager and I think I have everything installed:

sudo pacman -S networkmanager-pptp pptpclient networkmanager
figyelmeztetés: a(z) networkmanager-pptp-0.9.2.0-1 naprakész -- újratelepítés
figyelmeztetés: a(z) pptpclient-1.7.2-4 naprakész -- újratelepítés
figyelmeztetés: a(z) networkmanager-0.9.2.0-2 naprakész -- újratelepítés

If I try to connect, then there is no GUI error message,
but in everything.log stays the following:

<warn> connection /org/freedesktop/NetworkManager/Settings/1 failed to activate: (2) The VPN service 'org.freedesktop.NetworkManager.pptp' was not installed.

Can you help me somehow please?

Stupid question: after your update, have you restarted the networkmanager service? (Or rebooted your box)

Give it a try : install networkmanager-openvpn from the extra repo ( and restart networkmanager )

Okay it is solved now, basically there is nothing I have done wrong except for not clicking on the name of the vpn at top bar, but just on the toggle - habit from laptop.
I have really spent an hour with this and needed a new point of view, that's why I have posted.
Thanks for the hint though! I will mark this thread solved.

Just a real quick FYI, I ran into the same problem except I'm using compiz-fusion instead of gnome-panel. I was able to connect through the gnome-control-center panel by installing networkmanager-openvpn and issuing an `/etc/rc.d/networkmanager restart`.
