How to gain more experience.

So I've been using linux for a few years now.  Problem is that I've been using mostly ubuntu/gnome which never really necesitated learning the CLI.  At my work we have 4 fedora servers and a centos6 server that my boss is hoping I will eventually oversee.  As it stands, the contractor who set them up is overseeing them.  I really need to learn a lot of things quickly.  I'm thinking I should probably become pretty proficient at writing regular expressions and bash scripting as well as learning all the tools the CLI offers.  How do I go about doing this?  Where do I start?  I'm learning slowly, but are there ways to speed up the process?  My whole reason for installing arch was that it forced me to use CLI.  Ideas are welcome.
