[SOLVED] problem installing xorg-server

hello, this is my first time installing arch as i switched over from gentoo, so this is my first post (hooray!)
i've successfully installed arch via my usb drive, now i am trying to simply install xorg-server via pacman
i tried to use the command:

sudo pacman -S xorg-server

yet i get a bunch of lines saying:

error: xorg-server: signature from "Andreas Radke <andytr@archlinux.org>" is unknown trust

^^ it says that for multiple things other than xorg-server, such as xorg-font-utils,libx11,etc.

then it says at the bottom for the last 2 lines:

error: failed to commit transaction (invalid or corrupted package (PGP signature))
Errors occured, no packages were upgraded.

Right now i have pacman version 4.0.3 w/ libalpm v7.0.3

can anyone help me fix this problem? thanks.

Re: [SOLVED] problem installing xorg-server

Welcome to archlinux.  You will find there is a very active community here that stays on top of such issues, so you can usually find answers by checking the wiki and searching the forums.  Please make sure to do so before starting new threads.

For now you can see here for a likely solution.  If that fails, and if other threads do not provide greater insight, come back with the results of those steps and any error messages encountered.

Re: [SOLVED] problem installing xorg-server

thanks for the fast response.
ive deleted my gnupg folder and typed:

sudo pacman-key --init

and its been stuck on:

gpg: Generating pacman keychain master key...

for about 20minutes now.
is it supposed to take such a long time?

Re: [SOLVED] problem installing xorg-server

It should go pretty quick, but only if you're doing other work (in another tty for example)

See here for more info.

Re: [SOLVED] problem installing xorg-server

I looked up the problem, figured out that for the process to go by, i needed to create entropy in the computer, i ran cat /dev/sda for a while until the process finally completed in about a minute.
Everything works now, xorg completed successfully thanks to the commands you linked.
Thanks for the help, i guess i will really be using these forums more often now.
Last thing, is there a way to make the subject say [Solved] so people can ignore this thread?

to mark your thread [SOLVED] you simply edit your first post, in order to change your thread's title.

but something you should note - marking a thread [SOLVED] serves a greater purpose than allowing users to ignore your thread. Really it serves two purposes;

- 1st to allow knowledgeable users who may be searching the forum to help other users with problems, know if a problem has been [solved]. thus allowing them to move onto someone else' thread/problem/issue...

- 2nd (and equally important) it allows users who are having a similar issue see that someone else has already solved the same problem - which likely means they can consult the [SOLVED] thread to find a solution. So it's important to always list how you solved it (even if you figured it out on your own) rather than just marking it solved and moving on. Archers may find the information useful.

EDIT:

...and welcome to the wonderful community of Archlinux smile

It's best to familiarize yourself with the forum rules and other sticked threads although I'm afraid the 'Not enough random bytes' portion might be out of date :-(

Welcome to Arch, I hope you will have a great time.
