Hi there,
Up to now I disabled my pc speaker with just blacklisting the pcspkr module. This worked great, but some weeks ago, the pc (and my notebook as well) started to beep again.
I have a file called /etc/modprobe.d/nobeep.conf:
# do not activate the pc speaker bell
blacklist pcspkrAnd lsmod also tells me, that pcspkr is not loaded:
$ lsmod | grep pcspkr
$Does anyone know, if the module name changed or so? How can I globally disable my pcspkr again?
Thanks for help!

Same for me.
It's bothering in the silent night earing such loud beep, without the power to change anything
do it good first, it will be faster than do it twice the saint ![]()

I had the same problem with my laptop. Beep was on even though pcspkr was not loaded. I fixed it by muting Beep-channel in alsamixer.

You can also try those command :
setterm -blength 0
xset -bLast edited by mhtrinh (2012-08-10 16:42:08)
