Unstable and slow network with atheros adapter - ar9285

I searched a lot about, but did not get a solution to my problem with the board

03:00.0 Network controller: Atheros Communications Inc. AR9285 Wireless Network Adapter (PCI-Express) (rev 01)

I've tried to solve by creating the file, ath9k.conf, with the contents

options ath9k nohwcrypt=1

but got no improvement.

Can someone help me? I'm waiting to some suggestions.

Thanks a lot

Well, it’s wireless, so… Have you tried another channel? Moving the antenna? A bigger antenna? (What does “iwconfig | grep Quality” report?) Does it work fine under another OS?

Thank you for the suggestions...
I have dual boot with windows 7 and the wireless is normal.

I guess the problem is the atheros driver for linux.

Re: Unstable and slow network with atheros adapter - ar9285

Hi,
I'm also experiencing huge problems with wireless since kernel 3.1
my wireless is AR9285, using module ath9k from kernel or from compat wireless doesn't make any difference and so does loading module with hwnocrypt option.

Here's output from system log:

Aug 25 18:22:48 krisko-arch NetworkManager[346]: <info> (wlan0): supplicant interface state: disconnected -> scanning

when finally I succeed to connect, the connection is very slow and gets disconnected in few minutes or an hour tops.
any suggestions with this issue? :-/

Re: Unstable and slow network with atheros adapter - ar9285

I have the same problem with
Network:   Card-1: Atheros AR9285 Wireless Network Adapter (PCI-Express) driver: ath9k
I have found no solution so far - I got networkmanager working recently but that did not help at all. It seems that it is not communicating well with wpa_supplicant.
Edit:
Deactivating networkmanager in the dameons and using netcgf with net-auto-wireless and net-profiles seems to have taken care of it here.

sub'd I too have this problem with my 9285 card in my acer netbook.  In windows I can see 10 houses around me, in linux I'm at -90dbm 1 room away from my router.

Re: Unstable and slow network with atheros adapter - ar9285

Well, I gave up and bought the intel 6230 combo chip off amazon for $10, and arch immediately made it work, and I'm back to full strength wireless.  Doesn't help the 9285 folks, but sometimes it is easier to buy a more compatible chip.

i had the same problem, and by listing all the systemctl units i had a service called something like dhcp@wlan0 and the dhcpcd service running at the same time and by disabing the dhcp@wlan0, solved the problem. Try checking if theres another service causing conflict with wpa_supplicant

systemctl list-units
