mysql problem with php

Hi, everybody I followed the lamp wiki, but for some reason I can't get mysql working with php.
Before the maior-update everything worked fine, but now I get from all my scripts a could not connect to mysql warning.
The mysql server is running and even an external mysql server could not be reached from my scripts.
In my php.ini the line extension=mysql.so is uncommented.
I hope, that you may have an idea what's wrong with my setup.

Re: mysql problem with php

Check your httpd error logs. See if anything shows up there.

My guess is that it might be due to the change in php module directory.

Check and see what your extension_dir is set to in your php.ini file, and then check to see where your php modules are actually located.

ie. are they at /usr/lib/php/ or /usr/lib/php/extensions/blah-blah-blah
