Having problems printing

I decided I wanted to print stuff from my HP LaserJet 1100A printer, so I went ahead and installed CUPS, hpijs, and foomatic-filters. Afterwards I modprobed lp, parport, and parport_pc, and installed the printer via CUPS' web interface. I then go ahead and try to print a test page, but nothing came out, and it turned out that the job was aborted. So I set the log to debug and took a look at error_log, and have absolutly no idea what any of the stuff means. Can anyone please help me figure out what's wrong here?

Here are the last couple of lines of /var/log/cups/error_log

Re: Having problems printing

did you set the debug level to the highest setting? I had cups problems once and the only way I found the problem was by setting it to its highest level. Also, do you have your hosts file set up properly? ie hotsnamefoo goes to:
127.0.0.1               hostnamefoo.localdomain     hostnamefoo

Re: Having problems printing

I'm not quite sure by what you mean by setting up my hosts file properly. This is what my hosts file looks like currently:

127.0.0.1    localhost.localdomain   localhost

and I have rc.conf set up like so:

HOSTNAME="localhost"

I also set up cups to debug2 just like you suggested, and while there was a lot more stuff shown, I couldn't really tell what the error was (I would post my error_log here, but the entire thing is like 5568 lines long). The only part that seemed particularly pertinate to my problem were these lines (towards the bottom):

Re: Having problems printing

D [09/Oct/2005:23:35:15 +0000] [Job 13] sh: gs: command not found

It looks as though the ghostscript package isn't installed.

Re: Having problems printing

Yeah, that turned out to be the problem (I guess I didn't look at the error_log hard enough :oops: ). My printer works just fine now after I installed ghostscript. Thanks for your help.
