This. Getting the corex kernel through the repo is so smooth, I forget all about it until the rare times I, for whatever reason (usually to test if some issue is with the kernel. It never is), have to boot with the regular kernel and get reminded of how much lag comes crashing down on my desktop experience.

Thanks a bunch. Arch wouldn't be the same without this.

Not too sure what you're saying here... the module is included:

% find /usr/lib/modules -name "mac80211*"
/usr/lib/modules/3.6.2-1-ck/kernel/net/mac80211
/usr/lib/modules/3.6.2-1-ck/kernel/net/mac80211/mac80211.ko.gz

If you want it to load, you need to add it to /etc/modules-load.d/load.conf or something similar.

Whatever your problem, it could be related to all the 3.6 kernels (ie upstream).  Have you tried using the linux package from [testing] to confirm?

Re: unofficial linux-ck repo with cpu optimized packages is ONLINE

I say that is included right but in older releasis these autoload the module at boot (infomod iwlwifi depend of it) but you new release not load them
this is not a problem, I add the 80211 to my modules in mkinitcpio and all work

Re: unofficial linux-ck repo with cpu optimized packages is ONLINE

I have decided to use your linux-ck-corex kernel once again.  It seems to be working pretty great.  But I have been getting the following error on boot and resume

[drm:__gen6_gt_force_wake_mt_get] *ERROR* Force wake wait timed out

I am searching the interwebs now looking for more info.  So far I have found this thread, but I haven't tried anything yet.  ihttps://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=54521

I just figured I would throw this out there to see if anyone else is experiencing the same issue.  As far as I can tell, it seems to have no adverse effects on my system.

Is it a Linux-ck thing or a 3.6.2 thing?  Does [testing]/Linux do it?

Re: unofficial linux-ck repo with cpu optimized packages is ONLINE

Oh sorry, it is the linux-ck-corex 3.6.2-1

Edit: and like I said before I haven't started debugging yet.  I will let you know if I come up with anything though.  Thanks graysky.

Edit2: Just tested with 3.6.2-1 from testing, and the same thing occurs.

OK... the CK patches are pretty harmless in terms of breakage.  In fact, I don't think I can think of a single example of a bug being caused by them that wasn't squashed by CK in a rapid time frame.  BFS is pretty mature code now.

Re: unofficial linux-ck repo with cpu optimized packages is ONLINE

Using linux-ck-atom [3.6.2-1] with broadcom-wl-ck-atom [5.100.82.112-23], my netbook crashes (black page with multiples lines involving wpa_ stuff, I think) each time I try to connect to a wifi. No problem with 3.5(-ck) nor (linux-)lts. I'll try tomorrow if it's 3.6.2 related.

Re: unofficial linux-ck repo with cpu optimized packages is ONLINE

From what I'm reading it is likely a 3.6.2 problem.  Broadcom needs to update their stuff for the 3.6 tree is my guess.  I'll keep my eye on the parent package in the AUR for the Broadcom drivers.  Please flag the ck flavor of this package out of date if you catch an update before I do.

Broadcom package updated.  Please try 5.100.82.112-24 either in the AUR or in the repo.

It's working !

Besides, I've a SSD on this netbook. Do you recommend me to use the noop elevator, or the bfq one ?

BFQ is made for rotational disks, so enable it only for such.
SSD's it's usually worth to use either noop or deadline.

Re: unofficial linux-ck repo with cpu optimized packages is ONLINE

Attention Virtualbox users: I now provide the linux-ck-specific modules in the repo, so no need for the dkms method which for me causes fits of rage when a new kernel is released[1,2].

You will find virtualbox-ck-host-modules and virtualbox-ck-guest-modules for: generic, corex, and kx.

Note that once installed, you may remove the [community]/virtualbox-host-source if you had installed it.  Enjoy and as usual plz report any problems you experience.

Correct me if I'm mistaken, but I believe that neither the atom nor p4 architecture support virtualization extensions.

Re: unofficial linux-ck repo with cpu optimized packages is ONLINE

Not but I need build the modules for host trow dkms for make work correctly the virtualbox

if I not build the virtualbox sources for the kernel and I try to run virtualbox, I reseive many error/complainig about those mising modules

try removing all modules related to virtualbox (specific to ck), included the dkms related and then run 'modprobe vboxdrv'

Re: unofficial linux-ck repo with cpu optimized packages is ONLINE

the vboxdrv is part of virtualox-host-modules
if you have a non stock kernel (linux-ck-atom) you cannot modprobe vboxdrv
and if you run virtualbox this give a couple of troubles if this module not is loaded

underestand now??

PD:

broadcom-wl-ck-atom 5.100.82.112-24
linux-ck-atom 3.6.2-1
linux-ck-atom-headers 3.6.2-1

Re: unofficial linux-ck repo with cpu optimized packages is ONLINE

OK... virtualbox-host-modules is for [core]/linux only.  You cannot use it with a custom kernel like linux-ck-atom.

I just expanded the module support for all linux-ck packages in the repo.  Do this:

# pacman -Syy
# pacman -S ck-atom
:: There are 6 members in group ck-atom:
:: Repository repo-ck
   1) broadcom-wl-ck 2) linux-ck 3) linux-ck-headers 4) nvidia-ck 5) virtualbox-ck-guest-modules 6) virtualbox-ck-host-modules

Enter a selection (default=all):

Now you can select which you want to install.  Please let me know if there are problems.
