[SOLVED] OpenAFS - FATAL: Module openafs not found.

Dear all,

I try to get OpenAFS work, but I have some trouble.

I installed krb5 from the repositories and openafs-features from AUR. I edited /etc/openafs/ThisCell. When I type 'kinit username' I get this:

ace ~  $  kinit xxxxxx
Password for xxxxxx@xxxxxxx.xx:
ace ~  $

So this seems to work, as the corresponding server is shown and it only works if I typed in a valid username. But if I try 'aklog' it fails:

ace ~  $  aklog
aklog: Couldn't get openafs.org AFS tickets:
aklog: unknown RPC error (-1765328377) while getting AFS tickets
ace ~  $

I realised, that I haven't load the openafs-daemon, but here is the problem, I can not load it:

ace ~  $  sudo /etc/rc.d/openafs start
:: Starting OpenAFS with FATAL: Module openafs not found.                                                             [BUSY]
                                                                                                                      [FAIL]
ace ~  $

Why does it tell me, that there is no module openafs found, although I have installed openafs?

Greetings
peaceable

Re: [SOLVED] OpenAFS - FATAL: Module openafs not found.

I'm not using it, but from the AUR page of it, there seems to be a "libafs" module also in use. You can see if it works loading the modules manually. Have you tried that?
Maybe you want to reference your thread here in the AUR page of it, so more relevant users see your question. The AUR page shows a current error with systemd also, maybe both are linked.

I now tried the "openafs"-package and not the openafs-features-package, like I did before and now it works!

I have no idea, what went wrong before, because I used openafs-features, because I thought this would help (I had similar problem before with openafs).

I am not sure whether I should comment anything in AUR openafs-features now? For me the older version "openafs" is working. (btw I used 'sudo rc.d start openafs-client' to start the daemon)

Greetings and thanks

Re: [SOLVED] OpenAFS - FATAL: Module openafs not found.

After testing around I realised, that the problem was an older Version of openafs. With the older version openafs 1.6.1-9, which I had still on my laptop, it did not work, when I updated to openafs 1.6.1-10 it worked as on my workstation yesterday. So I guess it was just a error in program.

Greetings
Alex
