Hi.
For 2-3 days (since the big update for gnome 3.6), thunderbird has been freezing for no reason, without any error message when launched in the shell. I tried to deactivate all my extensions, tried to create a new profile, but nothing worked.
I'm completely running out of ideas. Could you give me a hand please ?
Sincerely.
EDIT:
And it's not a problem of version, I tried to go back to the 2 past ones : still the same freezes.

I experienced in Gnome 3.4, thunderbird taking up 100% CPU background and make computer freeze and X needs to be restarted. Then I switched to evolution and it runs fine.

I also tried Evolution, but with Gmail, it does not work. Evolution keeps trying to load the content of my Inbox, but it never success.

Fixed (I guess) with the kernel update of tonight. I don't know what was the bug. Solved.

Update:
after 2 days while thunderbird worked perfectly, the problem reappeared. I can not get any information about why it is happening.

Oh well, now this problem seems resolved all by itself, too bad i can't track it down to a specific recent update so i could help you in some way.

Still nothing ? I still have this bug each time I install Thunderbird, and I can't stand evolution anymore.

As I'm still trying to fix this bug, I post an "update":
If I put the offline mod before Thunderbird starts to freeze, I do not encouter the bug anymore. So I think it could be a network problem. But d*mn, isn't there a way to have error messages ?
EDIT:
By following the procedure here, Thunderbird stops with:
-934287616[7fa2cedfbdf0]: d0314800:imap.googlemail.com:NA:CreateNewLineFromSocket: * CAPABILITY IMAP4rev1 UNSELECT IDLE NAMESPACE QUOTA ID XLIST CHILDREN X-GM-EXT-1 UIDPLUS COMPRESS=DEFLATE ENABLE MOVE CONDSTORE ESEARCH

Still no suggestion ?

Not the solution that you asked for, I stopped using Thunderbird when the freezing on launch started while using it. I switched to
pacman -Si claws-mail
It's light, user friendly, gtk, works well.

The strangest "fix" ever. I installed the nightly yesterday, played around a little bit, and then installed the stable version. And it "seems" fixed, I didn't encounter yet. I'm going to wait a little bit before saying it's fixed, but it seems.
