simple network config with multiple static addresses on two interfaces

I have to configure multiple static addresses on two interfaces.
netcfg is driving me crazy. It used to be so easy with Archlinux but in the last year huge fancy tools got defaulted and useful simple thing got thrown out.
where is the Keep It Simple  princile here? I think Archlinux is going the way of Keep It Complicated.

I had a perfectly working set-up and now I had to spend a whole weekend reconfiguring networkinterface that used to work. F**K.

It is still not working and I'm really considering giving up and moving to some good distribution that keeps things simple and plain (don't think there are any out there with linux so probably BSD).

The documentation of netcfg is s**t and no longer plainly readable. Is there any way of just assinging stable some IP's to a interface like it used to be in the BSD world?
