You don't need to reinstall from the AUR if you still have the PKGBUILD files and the source. Just edit the PKGBUILD and rebuild the packages, as described in this topic.

You no longer need to edit /etc/hosts, nss-myhostname will provide host name resolution, and is installed on all systems by default.

What is my /etc/hosts supposed to look like now?

afaik it can stay as it is. It just isn't required anymore to add your hostname to the localhost entries.

Somewhat related: how do you set multiple hostnames with hostnamectl?
