Slow network with installation

After a lot of succesfull installations of Arch the last years I am not able to use Arch anymore. The troubles start with the installation (media 1/11/12). The top mirrors seems to be throttled to about 1 -50 kb/s (normal 7-10 Mb/s). When i use a lower rated mirror in Poland i get the normal throughput (7 Mb/s). However after the installation of Arch some websites are almost unavailable (fe wiki.archlinux.org). Using other distro's i am able to connect to the arch wiki without a problem.

I use a wired internet connection. I thinks the troubles began around the time the aur website was reorganised and i wasn't able to use yaourt as before (yaourt-git seems to be working, but also very slow).

At this moment i am using Fedora 18 beta (mate) without a probleme, as i was used with Arch before.

Anyone any idea?

Greetings, ROn...

Re: Slow network with installation

during installation I edit pacman.conf before downloading/installing anything, try that..try to use some mirrors and see what's fits you needs -> mirrors

Re: Slow network with installation

Could this be an ipv6 issue?  I don't know how this all works, but my work network still isn't 'up-to-code' for ipv6 and most network operations are either extremely slow or just timeout until I disable ipv6 on my system.

Re: Slow network with installation

@bernacher. I don't think it's a pacman or upgrade issue. I was able to install Archlinux correct right after the realease of the 1/11 iso. A few weeks later the mirrors became extremely slow and i wasn't able to install archlinux within a reasonable time. Then i tried a low ranked mirror i was able to install Archlinux in 1/2 hour, however when browsing to some sites (fe wiki.archlinux.org) the connection timed out or took a long time. At the same time www.archlinux.org loaded fine. I really can't find an explanation for this. When loading wiki.archlinux.org with chrome on my iPad the site loads with normal speed, and also using Fedora the site loads normal.
@Trilby: i don't know, anyone?
@joel: What do you change in pacman.conf?

Re: Slow network with installation

On OP's demand moving to Networking, Server, and Protection.
It appears to be solved anyway.
