Isn't something like this the more usual style of blogger icon?

Yeah, but it doesn't match the rest of the icons at top. Even if just the logo was used, the themes would be off.

Realised that. Some imangination is called for.

Do we need both the devblog and the planet button? Its already looking cluttered up there. I think the planet could probably be linked from the archlinux homepage, its not so important in the bbs (ie: People aren't as likely to say "visit the arch planet button" as they are to say "visit the dev blog".
The only thing is, the planet is a really cool button...

Talking of really cool buttons... Here's a (non) starter for ten:

Well, one thing to consider is that the Development Blog posts do show up on the planet site/feeds. So if you're going to go with only one or the other, it might make more sense to stick with the Planet link. Who knows...
In regards to the 'Blogger' icon, nice button, but that symbol is the official logo for the blogging service Blogger (owned by Google), and not synonymous with web logs in general. It might be somewhat confusing considering that the development blog isn't hosted by them or related to Blogger in any way...

Hmm... maybe it's just me, but I like the button produced by elasticdog far better than this one.
Sorry...

So do I .
It just that I was questioning whether the symbol would be meaningful to people. Similarly for the Bugs icon, to me the tools imply "setup" or "tweaking" rather than "errors".

I added the button!
dog - please see this thread - we're investigating something a bit new but I want to "tabulize" your buttons:
http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?p=120753
I think you'll need to a left edge graphic ( [ ), a right and left edge togther graphic ( ][ ), and a right edge graphic ( ] ) - using simlar borders as we currently have on the buttons
Then we'll need centers for each existing button - I think the text on the left with a smaller version of the current logos on the right would look pretty good!

When I say smaller I mean around 80-75% of the current size, not a big reduction

thanks for the great work, BTW. ;-)
