Open source vs Proprietary driver video

Hi everybody,

I bought a HP Dv6-6C60Br laptop, it has a graphics driver ATI Mobility Radeon HD 7690M with 1GB DDR5 integrated memory share until 4085MB memory for graphics.

the open source driver works good? or the catalyst is better?

Re: Open source vs Proprietary driver video

Power management is bad on FOSS drivers (and i am not sure SI is prime time ready yet) so you are better off with catalyst (which also has its drawbacks).

You can try both of course.

Re: Open source vs Proprietary driver video

I use debian in my PC, and used open source driver for a long time, because property driver was worst, but sometime ago it's good better and i passed use it.

So I'll try both.

thanks
