Video/audio desynchronisation

I have "Intel Corporation Mobile 915GM/GMS/910GML Express Graphics Controller" and "AC'97 Audio Controller".

pacman -Qs gst
local/clutter-gst 1.9.92-1
    GStreamer bindings for clutter
local/gst-libav 1.0.4-1
    Gstreamer libav Plugin
local/gst-plugins-bad 1.0.4-1
    GStreamer Multimedia Framework Bad Plugins
local/gst-plugins-base 1.0.5-1
    GStreamer Multimedia Framework Base Plugins
local/gst-plugins-base-libs 1.0.5-1
GStreamer Multimedia Framework Base Plugin libraries
local/gst-plugins-good 1.0.5-1
    GStreamer Multimedia Framework Good Plugins
local/gst-plugins-ugly 1.0.5-1
    GStreamer Multimedia Framework Ugly Plugins
local/gstreamer 1.0.5-1
    GStreamer Multimedia Framework
local/gstreamer0.10 0.10.36-1
    GStreamer Multimedia Framework
local/gstreamer0.10-base 0.10.36-1
GStreamer Multimedia Framework Base plugin libraries
local/gstreamer0.10-base-plugins 0.10.36-1 (gstreamer0.10-plugins)
GStreamer Multimedia Framework Base Plugins (gst-plugins-base)
local/totem 3.6.3-2 (gnome-extra)
GNOME3 movie player based on GStreamer

I am having serious video/audio desynchronization (audio goes ahead of the video) when watching videos. I don't know where to look into. Any ideas?

Yo Dawg, I heard you likes patches, so I have created a patch for your patch, so you can patch your patches before you patch.

Re: Video/audio desynchronisation

Did this happen on other Linux distros? For instance Ubuntu? Or this is your first time, arch & linux? Is this a pure Arch install and not a derivative?

Don't forget to mark as [SOLVED].

Re: Video/audio desynchronisation

I don't have other linux distro's at the moment. I have been using arch for 1-2 years I guess. This is a pure Arch install, I have installed it recently. Previously I wasn't experiencing this. I am thinking I may have done some configuaration errors.

Re: Video/audio desynchronisation

Are you by any chance using Pulseaudio? There's this option in Pulseaudio that allows you to output simultaneously to multiple sound cards/outputs (which sounds useful), but whenever I use it, I get problems like you are experiencing. The first time, it took me months to figure it out, now I just avoid that option tongue
