I am getting this:
└─> deluge-gtk

Here is what it's pointing to:

If you delete / move the lock file then does it start? Somewhere like this maybe: ~/.config/deluge/ipc/deluge-gtk.lock

Strange, a reboot seems to have fixed it now, though I had rebooted many times before and it wasn't working.

This just happened to me. Delete the content of "~/.config/deluge/ipc/" (2 zero byte files in my case) and Deluge should start working again.

I have made a personal commitment not to reply in topics that start with a lowercase letter. Proper grammar and punctuation is a sign of respect, and if you do not show any, you will NOT receive any help (at least not from me).

What the hell is going on here?? It happens after every shutdown now. It's like Deluge isn't exiting properly or something and I have to manually delete the content of that folder at every boot. It's pissing me off. Always the same error about "ipcinterface:156".

Just encountered this error for the first time. I tried removing the lock file, but that didn't work. I deleted the entire ipc directory and that did work.

Month old post, but just encountered this issue for the first time as well. Had Deluge up and running for a few days, so I'm not exactly sure what caused it. As for any settings I may have changed, nothing out of the ordinary. Like B-Con, removing the lock file didn't work (it just recreates it), but removing the ~/.config/deluge/ipc directory does work (it also recreates it, so no worries here). I'm just hopeful this doesn't become a recurring issue.
EDIT: Just happened again, and now I can safely deduce the reason. Was because I shut off my computer pre-emptively, without quitting my applications.

Problem is still present with latest Deluge
deluge: 1.3.6
libtorrent: 0.16.12.0
ahh... shouldn't be fixed already ? Problem still occurs with
deluge (1.3.6-3)
libtorrent-rasterbar (1:0.16.12-2)
I think I'll just write some simple script to do the job...

Happens to me too on E18, deleting the lock file fixes it, I guess we could just add deleting the lock file into a script that starts up deluge, but I'm not ruling out that this could be a window manager (Enlightenment) issue unless I hear about this happening on others, and if so maybe it's an incompatibility between deluge and systemd's shutdown or reboot command?
