Hello
I run an Ubuntu server with Samba sharing some directories. On my laptop I have Arch-64bit+Thunar+XFCE4. Following behavior is same from wired or wireless connection. If I manually mount samba share on laptop with
mount –t cifs //fileserver/share /mnt/share –o user=darthpenguin, password=correcthorsebatterystaple, workgroup=WORKGROUPI can pull down files with no problems. However, if I mount the share from within Thunar by navigating to the ‘Network’ icon in the side panel and selecting ‘Fileserver’ from the list then selecting the share it seems to mount fine (after entering password) but when I try to copy a directory or group of files from the share the transfer will pause (hang/freeze) shortly into the process (after maybe 30MB or so – but that varies). I’m fairly certain that I have all the required packages and given that transfers work when mounted from the command-line I doubt that the issue is on the server side. I’m not sure at this point what configuration or log files will be useful in troubleshooting this. Please let me know if this is a known bug (possibly with patch/solution/workaround) or if there is any further information I can post to assist with troubleshooting.
