In that case you literally can't. Have you looked at the wiki pages?

This entire conversation is hilarious.

It's empty at the moment. If anyone knows anything about the status of 3.7/3.8 please let us know, I'd love to help even if needed.

Hello guys,
Can i install gnome 3.7 or 3.8 in arch linux ? Is it possible ?

You probably want a chroot/nspawn/VM to avoid messing up your primary system.

Mar 27, GNOME 3.8.0 newstable release. Its said that 3.8 will bring new features, new Apps, and a GTK3 with full Wayland support. Maybe the last release of Gnome3, before jump to version 4.0.

Looks like there will be Gnome 3.10 and Gnome 3.12: http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=n … px=MTMyNjQ

This page doesn't exist by the way.
My fingers slipped, I hit some random keys in google, and all of a sudden I got results for "arch linux gnome". Whoda thunk it?
I have wasted atleast a second of your time by making you read my signature.

Well, there seem to be some packages for 3.7.92 in gnome-unstable, however it doesn't seem to be a complete set. I don't even see gdm in there, and it gives me a error message about 'gnome-libsoup'.
Has anyone tried upgrading it yet? did they integrate gnome-libsoup and libsoup? I'd like to try it out, but I don't have the time to deal with a broken system right now. Anyone's experience would be very informative!

To be blunt, anyone who tries to upgrade now using gnome-unstable is being stupid and will break their system. Not all the packages are in their and ultimately the gnome maintainers have not announced gnome 3.8 in any fashion.

If you don't have time to deal with broken system, wait until it hits [extra]. Any other way you have to have time

Well, I did upgrade to 3.8 using gnome-unstable, then I realized gnome-settings-daemon gnome-control-panel and gnome-shell were missing. gnome-session didn't start because the new gnome-settings library was missing. I finally did a downgrade, but may be if I make the package myself it could work.
I will wait a couple of days and see if the packages appear in gnome-unstable or anywhere else.

Installing anything from gnome-unstable right now is suicide. The packages are far from complete and there have been soname bumps in at least clutter, gnome-desktop and evolution-data-server that haven't been covered so far.

“Bleeding-edge distro” includes the word “bleeding”.

You can install the gnome-icon-theme safely, though

Still good to see gnome-unstable moving. I guess there isn't much useful we can do to help before it lands in testing...
I really can't wait to switch to Web 3.8 as my default browser. The only missing thing (undo closed tab) is finally there.

Syncing Evolution with Owncloud without syncevolution sounds also like a nice feature.
