When updates are found, it schedules a reboot of the system. Is there a way to stop the sheduled reboot feature?

I think I'm right in saying that you'll get a pop-up warning, allowing you to delay the reboot by a few hours.

Finally the long-awaited auto-reboot feature.
Good job pacman devs! With every release you make Arch more accessible and open to users unfamiliar with Linux!

I suspect it's just for today, like a 24-hour bug.

Indeed. Replacing pacman.conf with a GUI which offers just a handful of options would make things more approachable, too.

What about the browser choice window? I've been waiting for this since forever, how i'm supposed to use Arch without this essential feature? That's it, i'm going to file a complaint to EC, you will not get away with this.

i thought systemd could handle parallel reboot.

i thought systemd could handle parallel reboot.
What is that?

I have a headless server running Arch and would like to be notified when it needs to be rebooted. Will pacmand be able to send pop-ups remotely to my desktop or phone?

A very useful feature:
Linux keeps running while systemd boots the new kernel. When the new boot is complete, systemd detects all running applications and executes them in the new environment. Then user input will be switched and the old session will be shut down
finally we get automatic updates. Shut down and laugh when the system won't reboot because of a broken core package.

About time! It boggles the mind that it's 2013 and this feature has only just been implemented.

This does seem complicated doesn't it - if pacman is to be integrated with systemd, why not just rebind all shutdown events - like the power switch - so that when the user tries to shut down it will actually run `pleasewait-win && pacman -Syyuf && poweroff` where pleasewait-win is the popup that informs the user about updates happening.
Perhaps this could be a feature request for the next subversion (4.1.2014).

You could use the "--beep" function for that.
I'd also want to suggest a new config file for this feature:
pacman-beep.conf
With this we can make it play different sounds/songs like "For Elise" before a reboot...

This is great news, and hopefully, pacmand will be smart enough to check for a proper Arch license and if it doesn't find one it will reboot with a warning regarding same, then shutdown. That would be kind of like Windows does it, but a little better. Frankly, I'm tired of seeing so many users using pirated copies of Arch Linux.

Guys I'm trying out Pacman 4.1 now and my fonts in the pop-up timer are ugly. Can anyone share their /etc/fonts/conf.d/85-pacman.conf?

The problem with things like this is that excessive customisation would make technical support a nightmare.
We need sane defaults, which can't be modified except on an enterprise-level edition of Arch.

I've found this audio clip, which seems suitable. Maybe we could see if we could get it released under a CC licence?

Yes, finally auto-reboot! Between this and the beta release of Google Nose I am a very happy camper! I'm also with ozar, we really need some 'genuine advantage' mechanism for Arch aswell.

We could think big. Take on other distros, and how they do things. Push ahead with changes, such as making Gnome 4 the default, and removing Python 2 entirely. After that, the competition will just wither away because of these incompatibilities. Accomodate, augment, and annihalate.
