Suspend kills all applications

If I issue pm-suspend command the laptop suspends and wakes up quickly when I push the power button. However, the laptop comes back to the slim login screen. Once I log in no applications are open. Any idea how to fix this?

Re: Suspend kills all applications

It seems X gets killed. Look at its logs.

Re: Suspend kills all applications

Not a solution, but you could try systemd suspend as an alternative - works perfectly for me.

Re: Suspend kills all applications

What is your graphics card?

vesa is pretty much a fallback driver. You'd probably have better luck with a driver for your card. https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Xorg#Graphics

Re: Suspend kills all applications

I've got the same problem. I see that there was a bug posted on the xorg bugzilla https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=62916. Doesn't look like it's been fixed yet.

Re: Suspend kills all applications

I fixed this by installing the proprietry driver for my nvidia card.

In my case I found that I had to install Bumblebee aswell.

I hope this helps.

Re: Suspend kills all applications

I feel I should thank frampy, installing the propertiary driver and bumblebee stoped my gnome from freezing at startup.
(I was getting the same error as zoran)

Re: Suspend kills all applications

You're welcome fakedrake. zoran: mark this as [Solved]?

I found that my machine would not work properly without bumblebee aswell, at first I assumed that I could just use nvidia alone. You also may want to remove all the mesa and nouveau packages on the system, I recently found that mesa-libgl wanted to replace nvidia-libgl when I did an upgrade (It's probably not a good idea to have them both installed anyway).

I've been using arch since the start of the year and probably 90% of the issues I've had have been driver related :S.
