Hello!
In xorg there's an oldtime bug which is still not closed https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=865
Shortly, the problem is when you have some functions binded to alt+shift and alt+shift+R, the latter won't work. The system will recognize and trigger only alt+shift part.
As seen in the discussion, ubuntu merged the proposed patch in its xorg-server implementation.
In AUR there is patched xorg-server-bug865 package.
Is there a chance that this patch will be merged in the [Extra] xorg-server package?

the policy of Arch is that it almost never patches upstream packages. There are certain exceptions as always, but your best bet is that upstream fixes it. I am not sure if this case falls in one of those exception cases or not. That is best decided by the dev who packages the app/package. You might want to contact him/her to get a definitive answer.
There's no such thing as a stupid question, but there sure are a lot of inquisitive idiots !

I faced with the same thing. And when xorg-server avalaible I manually patch using PKGBUILD from abs
Strange that this fix wasn't integrated with upstream Ubuntu already apply this path to yours upstream.

Having read the discussion to the bug, I don't see any reasons for ignoring this patch in the upstream.

Maybe we should contact xorg-server maintainers Jan de Groot and Andreas Radke (via bugreport, for example) and ask to add this patch to the official package.
It's not a problem to rebuild the package by my own, or use AUR, but I think in this case the game is worth the candle.
