Wired connections work worse than Wifi

I have a strange problem with 2 pretty different machines:

If I upload a good amount of data to somewhere via sftp, Wifi works actually BETTER than wired. In the following way:
When using Wifi, other online applications might experience a bit of lag, but nothing too bad.
When using wired net, however, other online applications tend to time out, lagging massively, hardly getting their data throughput anymore while the upload is in progress.

As I said it happens on different machines with different types of network adapters, so I suspect it's a generic Wifi vs wired issue.

The problem is that I actually prefer wired connections, so I'd like to know if there is any way to make wired connections behave better, like Wifi does here.

Re: Wired connections work worse than Wifi

PC 1: Wifi Atheros 5001 (802.11b/g), wired RTL8101e RTL8102e (10/100 MB/s).
PC 2: Wifi Intel Centrino Wireless-N 135 (802.11 b/g/n), wired Atheros Killer E2200 (1GB/s).

The focus lies on PC 2 by the way ^^

Re: Wired connections work worse than Wifi

Are these computers being hooked up to the same router and cable.  That is, did you try one, it sucked, so you unplugged it and plugged the other computer into the same cable and tried that one?  If so, it might just be a bad cable.
