since one of the last updates (foomatic and hpijs are all updated recently?) my printer stopped responding.
yes it worked before, and yes it still works on that other os
I can't add printers with the kde wizard anymore, because it asks me for some user/password combination I don't know (not root) in order to set it up. Cups allows me to set one up, but doesn't print the test page, it's just being cancelled.
What happened with this update?
Offline
dont know, but
have a look at:
http://www.archlinux.org/news.php#40
or/and try:
- to update ( pacman -S ) ghostscript or/and gimp-print ...
... and try to avoid foomatic; use only if you need --- if i install e.g. foomatic-ppd, my cups is somehow every 2nd job dead --- no idea why (not using any ppd-filter!!)
The impossible missions are the only ones which succeed.

I already did that hpijs update, I'm not using foomatic, and I already reinstalled the whole printer system
Maybe a log file could help? The line with E on the left marks the error... Sorry for the length

My printer quit working as well, but I figured it was just my wacky system acting strange. After reading this post, I reinstalled foomatic-filters and it seemed to have fixed my problem with the printer.

A print error occurred. Error message received from system:

god damned, it stopped working AGAIN and reinstalling foomatic-filters doesn't help anymore
note that printing a test page in localhost:631 does work, could this be a kde3 problem?

Did you try an uninstall and install again the driver? http://printon3d.com/best-home-printer/

Sigh, like the other threads you've been necrobumping, this one shall be closed.
