apache 2.0 magic entry for video/x-wmv

Anyone have a magic entry for video/x-wmv?  I can't seem to find one and the last update overwrote my /etc/httpd/conf/magic file.  I've got it all rebuilt, save that entry.

Yeah, me as well.   The CMS system that I use just switched to enforcing apache's magic file, so any wmv attachments that I make are appended with .txt.  I've got most everything else set up in the magic file, so people have to rename the .wmv files, or I just don't put wmv's up.

But I learned about the magic file right quick.

Re: apache 2.0 magic entry for video/x-wmv

what do you have in your /etc/mime.types?

You should have something like this..
video/x-ms-wmv wmv

you could also add this to your apache config..
AddType video/x-ms-wmv .wmv

That is in there, but, from what I understand, the way the app is written, php relies solely on the magic file  as a classification.  The way that the app is coded, the mime.types are used to check against what the magic file says that it is.  If there is any doubt, then .txt is appended to the upload.  This is to prevent the accidental or malicious misidentification of the file.   A blunt tool, but very effective.

Re: apache 2.0 magic entry for video/x-wmv

hmm... sounds like the app needs an entry then. I haven't run across a magic file that contained any info for .wmv format yet.. The mime.type for the extension was always used..

I will keep my eyes open though.. who knows..
