I am not sure whether this is the first time I ran Empathy, but I am sure that no account has been created yet.
I opened Empathy, it did not remind me of creating an account. I used the menu Edit->Account trying to create a new account, but no visible change happened. That means, no visible windows is shown, and no additional windows in my alt-tab list. Virtually, clicking Edit->Account or press F4 does nothing.
So, I can not add an account and thus unable to use Empathy now. Anyone knows how to force Empathy to show me the account window? Or maybe deleting some mal-configured configuration file of Empathy so that I can start over and run Empathy as if I have never run it before?

Give what you have. To someone, it may be better than you dare to think.

I have the same problem. I installed all the optional deps but still no "new account" window...

This is still an issue. Just wondering why packagers won't include telepathy-gabble (at the very least) as the dependency with Empathy. Shouldn't stuff just work out of the box?
