Rigs of Rods stable version packaged for Arch Linux

Precompiled package for Rigs of Rods 0.4.6 is available in archlinuxgr repo. It's a single x86_64 package that holds almost all dependencies in /opt/rigsofrods/lib.

Add to your pacman.conf:

[archlinuxgr]
SigLevel = Never
Server = http://archlinuxgr.tiven.org/archlinux/$arch

Then update and install rigsofrods:

pacman -Sy rigsofrods

Run the configurator first and then the game. (Included .desktop launchers in /usr/share/applications)

Older 0.38 packages can be found here (abandoned)

Enjoy smile

RoR is pretty cool (based on the 2010 video on the site), too bad it has a non-Free licence!

Re: Rigs of Rods stable version packaged for Arch Linux

Shouldn't we try to bring this into [community]? It's a pretty cool game but I think depending on old dependencies is unacceptable.

Yes, also requires old version of gcc and downgrade some other packages in order to compile. Its pretty nasty.

I updated their wiki page as well.

Re: Rigs of Rods stable version packaged for Arch Linux

Error when trying to run the game:

/opt/rigsofrods/bin/RoR: error while loading shared libraries: libangelscript-2.20.3.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

archlinuxgr/angelscript is installed, however it is version 2.26.3 not 2.20.3..

In x86_64, right ?

I will fix this today.

-------------------------------

It should be ok now, please update and re-install angelscript from repo.

Re: Rigs of Rods stable version packaged for Arch Linux

BTW, Would it be possible to add scripts in /usr/bin for running /opt/rigsofrods/bin/RoR and /opt/rigsofrods/bin/rorconfig ?
Then not only would it be in $PATH but clicking on "save and play" in RoRConfig would work..

Thanks

I tried to add scripts/links for launchers in /usr/bin but "save and play" refuses to work.

Re: Rigs of Rods stable version packaged for Arch Linux

I wanted to try - but it wants to downgrade openal, which I don't want to do. c'est la vie.

Yes, because the game segfaults a lot with openal 1.15.

Re: Rigs of Rods stable version packaged for Arch Linux

I noticed that the keyboard shortcuts for starting plans/boats and such don't seem to work. (cars are okay)
Dynamic input grabbing also doesn't quite work, the mouse in the game is in a different spot than the actual mouse.
I was just wondering if I'm the only one..

Thanks

Huh?

From http://www.rigsofrods.com/content/

Rigs of Rods is an open source vehicle simulator licensed under the GNU General Public License version 3.

Re: Rigs of Rods stable version packaged for Arch Linux

Page up and page down for boats (doesn't work), planes the throttle works with CTRL+pageup but you can't turn the engines on.
(I think the default for engines is CTRL+home, but for testing I changed it to CTRL+N, still didn't work)
for changing shortcuts, I'm just editing them in

~/Rigs\ of\ Rods\ 0.38/config/input.map

Re: Rigs of Rods stable version packaged for Arch Linux

from the input.map in the package:

o --> start / turn off plane engine
w / s --> plane acceleration
a / z ---> boat acceleration

Does those work ?

I use those every day (without CTRL)

Re: Rigs of Rods stable version packaged for Arch Linux

Those work, thanks!
But where is this input.map?? The only one I see is the one I mentioned above (that says controls for planes and such is CTRL+HOME/PGUP/PGDOWN)

Re: Rigs of Rods stable version packaged for Arch Linux

/opt/rigsofrods/bin/skeleton/config/input.map which should be copied to ~/.rigsofrods/config/input.map

AIRPLANE_THROTTLE_DOWN         Keyboard             S
AIRPLANE_THROTTLE_UP           Keyboard             W
AIRPLANE_TOGGLE_ENGINES        Keyboard             O

Have you done cp -r /opt/rigsofrods/bin/skeleton/* ~/.rigsofrods ?

Re: Rigs of Rods stable version packaged for Arch Linux

I have never tried multiplayer yet, but maybe someday.. when I can have more fps tongue (incedentally the fps counter seems to be broken, normally it displays a bunch of statistics including fps when you press "f")

To bad boost/caelum breaks things.. it looks so nice big_smile
Does it work with caelum 0.6.1? maybe you could have a separate package with boost/caelum wink

Re: Rigs of Rods stable version packaged for Arch Linux

Any boost/boost-libs update would break the game and that means re-build the whole thing.

I wanted to build stable packages as much as possible, that would not break from pacman updates (not often anyway)

So caelum didnt make it tongue
