Hi,
I am using Xine to play dvds nd it is quite choppy and audio is not in sync.(i've checked xine faq)

System
========
PIV 1.7 Ghz
128 RAM
Graphic caed Radeon 7000 PCI 32Mb
IceWM
Minimum Arch installation (All I want is multimedia - no office stuff installed)

Are there any tuneups you can reccommend?

Re: How to improve video quality

Did You enable the dma on the DVD-drive ??
Another thing is to get drivers for Your graphic card installed.

readonly     =  0 (off)
readahead    = 256 (on)
geometry     = 65535/16/63, sectors = 78140160, start = 0
[root@localhost downl]# hdparm /dev/hdb

/dev/hdb:
IO_support   =  0 (default 16-bit)
unmaskirq    =  0 (off)
using_dma    =  1 (on)
keepsettings =  0 (off)
readonly     =  0 (off)
readahead    = 256 (on)

My Graphic card driver is vesa Ihave to use this to get TV out working for this old graphic card.

Are there any tweaking I can do..increasing video buffer size  etc??

Re: How to improve video quality

the xorg radeon driver is perfect for the 7000. performs just as well as ATI's own and comes with way way way way less setup hassles. smile
