[SOLVED] Latest kde and python2-sip; KDE refuses to start. (64-bit)

KDE 64-bit on my system has a serious problem since it refuses to start while the latest version of python2-sip is installed. I've downgraded it to python 4.14.7-1 and kde works normally except some plasmoid widgets are non-functional. Has anyone else experienced this? Many Thanks.

Which python2-sip causes the problem: 4.15-1, 4.15.1-1 or both?
Is your system fully up to date?

So far both cause the same problem. It started on thursday, so I downgraded and waited until today.I upgraded again to the newest python2-sip and the problem persists. I only get a segmentation fault dialog and a black screen after logging in. The whole system is up to date except for python2-sip which I've held back because of this problem.

There are already several threads about this. Please search before posting.

Re: [SOLVED] Latest kde and python2-sip; KDE refuses to start. (64-bit)

Well I solved the problem. I had the simple cpu sensor and the gmail plasmoid widgets added to the desktop and I noticed that they weren't working with the downgraded version of python2-sip. I removed them, updated the system, rebooted and everything is working again. The 2 widgets DO NOT work as they will crash the desktop, causing it to restart but so far nothing like before.

Re: [SOLVED] Latest kde and python2-sip; KDE refuses to start. (64-bit)

You more likely need to remove ~/.kde4. However, doing so will put you in an entirely default KDE so you may prefer to rename it to see if it helps.
