i cannot install it, without installing logrotate (as you mentioned), dcron and sysklogd - sorry

'pacman -d' (aka nodeps checking) is your friend. That's why syslog-ng is not in official repos yet . Other pkgs need modification first...

pacman -d didn't work either... i've installed libao and than extracted the tar.gz-file in / - everything's working fine here. great work

He meant pacman -Rd, remove without dep checking.

Actually he meant 'pacman -Sd', sync (install) without dep checking .
