networkmanager ptpp VPN set to "Automatic(address only)" not working

I want to specify the DNS of the VPN connection via "Automatic(address only)" . But /etc/resolv.conf always lists the DNS servers provided by the VPN above my specified DNS. What could be the problem?
I 'm using KDE and the networkmanager , and I find it generates appropriate config file under /etc/NetworkManager/system-connection/ (with ignore-auto-dns=true).
